English summer rain by gabrielleragusi English summer rain by gabrielleragusi
"Always stays the same, nothing ever changes,
English summer rain seems to last for ages.

I'm in the basement, you're in the sky,
I'm in the basement baby, drop on by." - Placebo

I haven't done something for myself in a while, so here there's something quite inspired from the legend of Agartha, from the movie "Upside Down", from a drawing of the mangaka Morishita Suu (in the manga "Mada Amanogawa ni Ikenai") and, of course, from the amazing song "English summer rain" by Placebo
I hope you like it! :meow:

Wow, this is absolutely beautiful and I adore the coloring and composition! I find the use of the grid box very creative in creating a wonderfully surreal atmosphere. You've got great use of color reflection, too, and your style is adorable.

The only thing that bothers me is that I get the feeling there is too much negative space or that the characters should be increased in size. Sadly I can't think of what could be used to fill in the negative spaces on the sides, and enlarging the characters would take away the eerie space of the scene.

Still, the current amount of space in the image feels too much. Perhaps finding a happy medium between the two like a little less space and the characters being a little larger and moved a little closer to the viewer would help to fix this. Of course, this is also simply a personal preference as the image is still incredibly lovely and well done.

Keep up the great work!

I clicked on the image because of the vibrant colors. They're gorgeous. Not too saturated, but bright. The second thing I noticed right away was the characters, completely contrasting color-wise to the background.

I love--whether it was intentional or not--the expressions on the character's faces. There's a lot of emotion about these two and it's pretty powerful.

I'm not sure whether I like the background WITH this emotion, though. And maybe that's the point. The emotion is kind of a sad, dull, gray in feeling and the background is completely bright, almost happy. In any case, it's an interesting combination. There's a lot a viewer can get from this piece, many different interpretations and imaginative back stories.

The technique and technicality shows off obvious skill and artistic knowledge.

All in all, a beautiful and gently powerful piece.

Wow! I really like your choice of colors and the way you painted their hair. The clothes look a little boxy, like that scarf... regardless I still really like this picture. Great atmosphere! I wish I safely stand in water that deep, while it was raining!
